Living Room 

Putting together a living room, or any room for that matter is not as simple as it may seem unless you go to one shop and simply ask for their display collection.... maybe thats not such a bad idea. As my H and I will be moving at the end of the year we decided that it would not be worth painting our home, laying floor boards or changing the window treatments which we had full intentions to do when we moved in. 

My main aim now is to put together furniture and accessories that will match together and that will also be transportable. This I found difficult as my salmon coloured everything, tiles, walls and vertical blinds don't really match with the style/theme I would like to create.  If you rent an apartment or a house without the ability to change wall and floor colours, I think the best thing you can do is ensure your furniture and accessories match. 

My living room is a working progress probably because I'm a terrible decision maker and I spend way too much time looking a beautiful home blogs, magazines and furniture stores, there is so much to like .... how could I possibly make a design decision! 

I chose light green accent pieces because the white lounge throws a light green tinge, at first I wanted to do a navy blue and white theme but when I got the sofa back from the upholster the green tinge was more noticeable then I anticpated, which I was not at all disappointed with it just changed my colour plans. I am now glad that I have chosen green as the view from the window is out to the front lawn and trees so the green accessories accents and echo the surround view. We are very fortunate to living in a 'leafy' suburb near a major river, I try to keep this in mind when creating a room as the inside should have a slight reflection on the outside. So green it is!

I have just purchased a new side table which I am very happy with and I will post photos in my next post. It was not very expensive however the down side is I have to wait 2-3 months for it to arrive. The next stop is a new lamp (I have my eye on one!) and a coffee table (I still trying to find a good cabinet maker to make it as well as save a bit money to go ahead with it!) 

Recent pillow purchase from Pottery Barn Sydney. I thought that choosing this colour as a pillow it would pick up the terracotta/red in the humming bird images above the lounge.

Williams Sonoma Harrison Sofa - I had my sofa custom made based on this sofa with 2 side chairs to match.

These are silk flowers the tall cherry blossom flowers are from Pottery Barn Sydney and the large flowers below (not sure of the name) were a purchase from the Philippines. I had no expectation on how the arrangement would turn out when I purchased the flowers as it was on an impulse that I bought them. I'm so glad I did because I think they look beautiful.

Finally I get to shop at Potterybarn and Williams -Sonoma in Sydney.... no more expensive shipping or dreaming of owning their products. My mum and I set off to Bondi Junction (the location of the store) to explore our favourite shops and it was great. Although the product range is limited when compared to the US stores, there was still a great range and I'm sure that once they have established the store the product range will increase. I still managed to find a few bits and pieces to purchase and certainly have my eyes keen on a few more.... I need to save my pennies first! My mum was very contained and only purchased pancake mix from Williams-Sonoma, However I had a few more things in my basket. 

Before entering the store I was concerned that Pbarn and WS would increase their prices significantly compared to their US website. Which to my surprise the price increase is only marginal. The US prices don't show the Tax added till check out which makes the price deceiving and then you also have to add the shipping costs. The slight price increase on the sales tag in the Sydney store almost matches the price you would pay in the US once you add all the extra costs. 

The store was really really busy which I had completely expected. Among the whispers between woman in the store only excitement and positive comments could be heard  and plenty of people making purchases large and small which is great news for the stores. All I can say is I'm not surprised at the response from Australian woman, Potterybarn and Williams-Sonoma offer products that make the home look comfortable and stylish in a quality finish in a price range that is reasonable. What more could you ask for, the products speak for themselves and I am looking forward to adding some of these products to my own home. 

Here are the items that came home with me :

Emile Henry large loaf pan.
I have the ruffled pie dish and both the rectangular and square baker.
I have only had positive results with this cookware. They cook evenly, easy to clean and look great!

Pottery Barn Pocket Watch Clock in polished nickel for my bedside table. This clock is small but has a large face so it doesn't take up much room on the bedside table but a face large enough to see the numerals.

PB White Dinnerwear - soup bowls.
I have the set already but over the years a few of these have chipped so it was really nice to go into the store and purchase these bowls to replace my old ones.

I have been very happy with this dinner set, it gets used for everyday meals. 

Williams - Sonoma Pantry Pineapple Taper Holders.
These were just so sweet, I saw them and could not put them back on the shelf. These little taper candle holders look much better in person then on this photo, once you see them you won't be able to resist!

This is the Hudson Dresser that I have my eye on.....I saw it in store and Its really very nice!!!!

Almost Here.......

Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma and Elm Street are opening in Sydney and I can't wait. I think this will become my second home and probably make my husband very poor.... I have pre warned him! 

I have a Pottery Barn dinner set and I'm hanging out to add to my collection along with some new furniture. As an amateur cook Williams Sonoma is a haven of luxury cookware, tableware and gourmet foods I feel I will be spending alot of time and money in such a store! Currently you can purchase many of these items online but shipping to Australia is quite expensive and some larger objects are unable to ship so as you have probably already realised I'm delighted at these stores opening in Sydney.
